It’s a simple and straightforward affair – just select which apps you want to receive notifications for and leave it to do its thing.

While this isn’t the same as having a free ad-supported version of the app, a two-week trial should be enough time to work out if you like it enough to pay for it. There’s a free 14-day trial for all users, after which point you’ll have to cough up $2 to carry on using it. In order to support notifications for third-party apps like Facebook, Twitter, Pocket or any others, you’ll first need to enable the app for ‘notification access’, which can be found in Settings>Security>Notification access. Make a mental note of that now if you intend on trying out a few from this list, as they all require this permission.įloatifications is extensible too – meaning that there are plenty of other features and themes available from Google Play and ready to plug directly into the core offering if you want to change its appearance. Tapping on it, however, will take you to your normal messaging app to reply (and therefore away from whatever you were doing before). One of the key advantages of Floatifications over stock Android is that it also works in full-screen mode, allowing for uninterrupted access to notifications. So if you’re watching a YouTube video, for example, and receive an SMS, you don’t actually have to navigate away from whatever you are watching to read the content of the message.
